SMRC/KMSC Action

What a season it has been for the 2025 Scottish Motor Racing Championship and Knockhill Motorsport Club Car Racing. We have been focusing so much on the promotion of the Bike racing this season we didnt have many opportunities to get along to these 4 wheel events. We sent our resident media photographer / Videographer Craig McAllister of CMC-Images.co.uk to capture the action on the Sunday raceday of this weekend pasts action.

Sunday’s round of the 2025 Scottish Legends Championship delivered high drama, tight racing, and plenty of twist and turns — both on the track and in the championship standings. As the cars lined up at Knockhill Racing Circuit under grey skies and a thick morning mist, the stage was set for a tense, competitive day.

Qualifying / Familiarisation

  • The morning familiarisation session was held under a misty, fog‐laden sky, as drivers sought first to acclimatise.

  • Championship leader Ben Mason emerged as one of the strongest drivers, finishing 2nd overall in this session, narrowly behind Daniel Clark by just under one-tenth of a second.

Races

Race 1

  • After only a handful of corners, the first red flag was thrown: a spinner at Turn 1 culminated in a five-car pile-up at McIntyre’s. Track marshals worked efficiently to clear the wreckage, delaying the restart by approximately 20 minutes.

  • When the race resumed, it was Ben Mason who claimed victory — just 0.05 seconds ahead of second place — emphasizing how marginal the differences were in pace.

Race 2

  • This race proved chaotic. After a large incident at Clark’s, and then another severe crash on the main straight, the race was abandoned. No results were posted, making this one of the more dramatic moments of the weekend.

Race 3 (Reverse Grid)

  • As is tradition, faster finishers from earlier races started from the back.

  • Ryan McLeish took the win, finishing about half a second ahead of the rest of the pack in what turned out to be a sharp, aggressive race.

Championship Implications

  • With Mason once again converting his strong performance into a Race 1 win, the pressure remains high on his rivals. Clark’s strong qualifying/familiarisation runs show he’s very much in the mix.

  • The abandonment of Race 2 deprived several drivers of potential points, which may influence the championship as margins tighten.

  • McLeish’s reverse grid win highlights the depth of the field — being able to fight through adversity remains key at Knockhill.
